Do you remember the first reveal of Ratatan on the main stage of the 2024 WePlay Cultural Expo? Game producer Kazuto Sakajiri and art designer Hiroyuki Kotani took the stage to share exciting details about the game. Today, YouTuber GamersPrey released a 43-minute gameplay demo video of RATATAN.
From the gameplay demo, it’s clear why Ratatan is considered the spiritual successor to Patapon. The rhythm-based gameplay, music, and Fever mode all evoke memories of the classic title.
However, Ratatan also introduces some improvements. The input timing is less strict, with judgments like "JUST" and "GOOD" based on rhythm. Unlike Patapon, players can now freely control character movement. The game features over 100 characters for chaotic battles.
Additionally, Ratatan incorporates roguelike elements and supports up to 4-player co-op. According to the store page, the game is compatible with Xbox controllers, DUALSHOCK controllers (USB only), and DualSense controllers (USB only).
Ratatan is scheduled for release in April 2025 and will be available on PS5, XSX|S, PS4, Switch, and PC platforms.
